Instead of relying on the wood frame alone, it uses ordinary 1/2" black steel pipe (yes—the same kind used for gas piping!) as a cradle for support. The pipe runs through the swing frame and helps eliminate stress on the joints, giving the whole swing more strength and longevity.

Other clever details include:

• Eyebolts secured through the steel pipe, topped with soft rubber caps to avoid sharp edges

• A welded steel chain that hangs the swing securely from solid framing in the porch roof

• A smooth glide that makes it perfect for relaxing—but with enough structure to keep it feeling safe and sturdy
